How Continuous Wars Reinforce Authoritarianism in the Middle East with Prof. Hamit Bozarslan
The Middle East is going through major changes, with new alliances and shifting power as countries compete for influence. Since October 7, the role of local, regional, and global powers in the Middle East has changed dramatically. To help us understand these complexities and the new power dynamics, The Amargi’s Editor-in-Chief Kamal Chomani is joined by Professor Hamit Bozarslan, one of the leading scholars of the Middle East. Professor Bozarslan is an expert on the Middle East, Turkey, and the Kurdish question. Since 2006, he has served as Director of Studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences) in Paris. His research now focuses on the historical and political sociology of the Middle East, revolutionary movements and violence in the Arab world, and the rise of anti-democratic regimes in the 21st century.
